E.T. Barnette Homebrew Competition

 

There's more to judging beer than just tasting the beer. There's the paperwork. Paperwork before judging. Paperwork during the judging. And paperwork after the judging.

 

Left - Judging the Mead Class (and filling out paperwork). In this particular case they are judging a particularly nice raspberry melomel that tied of first in its Class and came in third over all.

 

Below Left - A moment of contemplation while judging the Dark Ale Class (Need I point out the paperwork?).

Below Right - Evaluating beers in the Best of Show round of judging. When judging the best of the best it isn't easy coming up for an overall "best" beer. The winner of this round received $500!!

The 1999 E.T. Barnette Homebrew Competition received no entries in the Dark and Light Lager Classes. There were, however, enough mead entries to warrant breaking them out of the Specialty/Mixed Style Class to form a separate Mead Class.
